Volkswagen C Coupe GTE rumours
Sleek, aerodynamic curves highlight the futuristic appearance of the concepts released so far related to Volkswagen's impressive C Coupe GTE model. Make no mistake, this isn't your parents' Volkswagen. This is a highly evolved model that leaves a lasting impression - a Volkswagen for the future, one might say - but to be made shortly available in the Chinese market.
Whether the model will make its way to Europe or North America is unclear at the moment - still, we're eagerly awaiting more information expected to be offered at the Shanghai Auto Show later this year. What we know is somewhat limited to the facts that it will be a four-door coupe, at 199.7 inches long, 76.0 inches wide, and 56.9 inches tall, it scales in near the Phaeton model.
Conceived through a joint-venture between SAIC and Volkswagen, the C Coupe GTE reflects on the modular-longitudinal MLB frame, and, in many ways, shares some of its appearance with the Audi A6L. The concept model is said to support a plug-in hybrid powertrain, enabling a 210 horsepower performance from a 4-cylinder turbo engine partnered with an electric motor, and a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery for 124 horsepower electric motor. These two combined rewards drivers with a total of 245 gross and will get you up to speed quickly thanks to 369 lb-ft of torque. The C Coupe GTE is definitely an aggressive move for Volkswagen, and for those destined to drive one, you're definitely going to have enough for what life has in store for you.
At 0 - 62 mph in just 8.6 seconds, well, you see where we're going with this - an impressive addition to the Volkswagen family, for sure.
Unsurprisingly, the C Coupe GTE is expecting to carry higher profile passengers, with a luxury emphasis for ergonomic features not just in the front, but in the rear seating as well. This is a car that really wants those who have a chance to sit in it to remember their experience fondly.
